Weekend Rant – Weekly Highlights & Sci Fi Fridays

This season is off and running, and with the quantity of programs I am currently following I have realized that there is barely enough time in the week to keep up with all of it, let alone rant about it all. It’s a very crazy and hectic and busy time of the year.

A few things stood out this week besides my regular addictions Dancing with the Stars (no surprise Kathy Ireland got the boot, and Tom Delay needs to be next) and the auditions of So you think you can Dance that were a huge treat from New Orleans. The Canuck version of SYTYCD has cut Austin (finally, I think Cody should be the next to go) and Amy (one blonde too many). I would really like to see Jayme win, but will say that the number done by Everett & Kim was the best thing done so far this season and may push both of them farther in the competition.

Glee continues to be my biggest highlight of the week and the guest appearance of Kristin Chenoweth this week was hysterically brilliant and makes me wish that she could be a permanent cast member. I love the integration of her character, the incredible vocals and

Other things that made the grade this week: The Amazing Race is always a winner, Desperate Housewives came back with all the claws out and some great story developments. The series always seems better when Marc Cherry is writing, even if the stories are not that plausible they make for great viewing. Big Bang Theory is still one of the funniest things on the tube but I am really loving Modern Family and all the hilarity. Cougar Town still has my attention but they better make sure it is not a one trick pony as it will lose my interest.

Survivor continues to shine with our villain Russell and his nasty games. His control seems to be slipping and I am glued trying to figure out if any of the other contestants are going to wake up and see how much of a manipulator he is. Rick Mercer came back this week with a decent season premiere, but the gang at 22 Minutes was so scathing that they made the week a whole lot funnier. It was nice to finally see some well thought out political satire concerning our current minority government and their terrible use of propaganda to try to convince the general public that they are doing a good job. It’s all smoke and mirrors and all they have done is spent more public money trying to convince the public that they deserve a majority government. It’s all very distasteful and about time that some one called them on their nasty games.

Friday has turned into one big Sci Fi/ Scy Fy night and while I love the idea of having a whack of genre shows one night, it has turned into a danger zone for shows that are on the bubble and in danger of being cancelled. Dollhouse may not be around much longer as the ratings are plummeting, and the stories seem quite disjointed this year. Smallville has had some interesting moments (I loved the inside Terminator joke concerning Brian Austin Green playing Metallo) so far this year and is starting to get into hotter Lois and Clark territory… I just hope they give it a chance considering the crappy time slot they dumped the series in.

Stargate Universe premiered and I am a tad unimpressed with the pilot. To me if feels like some of the best ideas of Voyager and Battlestar Galactica  were mesh-mashed together without making it work. I almost wonder if we are to discover that there are any Cylons on board or some other nefarious plot, and sorry to say but none of the ideas really feel fresh. I will give it a few episodes to see how it develops and pray that it isn’t another fiasco like Stargate Atlantis that lost it’s focus after the first couple of seasons and crashed and burned. I wonder if the networks take DVR viewing and recording into the equation as they look at the ratings, I have the feeling a lot of people record the Friday shows and watch them over the weekend.

I am looking forward to checking out the CBC’s Battle of the Blades, that teams up figure skaters with hockey players. It might make for some interesting combinations and I hope none of the hockey players forget that they aren’t in a game and take a shot at another skater… but then again it could be hilarious viewing. It’s a very Canadian thing.

Weekend Rant - Another Blitz !

Life has it's busy moments, and I am still sprinting non stop for the next few weeks... so this week is another Week in Review and my biggest hits and misses of the week.

I absolutely loved the special edition of Desperate Housewives and their tales of the handyman. Not only was it great to see the ladies in flashback mode (loved the first meeting of Gaby and the girls), and it was nice to see characters like Rex back for an appearance, and I think it is always a great treat to see Mary Alice. The episode was very well written and I laughed and cried with our housewives and the common thread that brought them all together.

Momma's Boys came to a merciful end with our boys and mothers unhappy. Like I said before, I am not predicting any happy endings and I am glad that this experiment is over ... none of the guys really followed their heart and that should be the essential element. In reality, should we even expect anything deep from these self professed momma's boys.. they are used to being told what to do and to have everything done for them.

24 is keeping a decent pace, but is already starting to stretch into more of that
"Did they really do that ? " territory with the apparent shooting and burial of our more than slightly miffed and confused FBI agent Renee. The storyline is still intriguing enough that I am coming back for more and I can hardly wait to see more with Bill and Chloe. Another geek off between Janis and Chloe would be more than appreciated (their mutual admiration for each other was cute as well) and I have the feeling that Janis is the mole and will be kind of like the anti-Chloe to to screw things up for Jack. At least the essential and important elements of this series are in sync , and Jack and Tony are being rough and tough double agents working for some rogue agency because of some government conspiracy. I wonder if the story lines will change now that there is a different vibe at the White House and the new administration seems more public and honest.

Smallville delved into angst territory again this week with Lana still on board and Lois curiously absent once again. I am looking forward to getting back in to hero mode and Lana leaving again, Clark just turns into a babbling idiot and some one needs to give him a super kick in the ass. They have been going back and forth on the hero thing and we better get into some tights soon, or attempts at disguising our reluctant hero so he really can be a force for good and start realizing his potential. I will say that I did like the Lana stuff when she showed Tessmacher how she was the eyes and ears of Lex with out knowing it, and it will be interesting to see what side she will play on now, but I am more interested in seeing things develop with Lois and Clark and for the series to be more action and adventure oriented.

Bones came back this week with 2 episodes and both of them were brilliant for different reasons. I loved seeing Booth and Bones undercover and off to join the circus as Canadians, Buck and Wanda Moosejaw who have this nifty act called Boris & Natasha & their Russian knives of death. Both of them were hilarious and Bones had me on the floor with her deadpan questions and comments. Her blind faith in Booth and his knife throwing abilities was surprisingly logical, and the affection between the two of them is obvious to everyone except them it seems. They had too much fun together at the Circus and it was great to have the show back on the air. I loved the 2nd episode as well, and you could see that David was having too much fun with the hockey theme. I still have alarm bells that go off with Sweets, and am still convinced that he will be a bad guy some time in the future.

The return of Lost was the biggest highlight of the week, and I loved the 2 hour opener that started to answer some questions and reveal some of the secrets of the Island. I love the whole unstuck in time thing that is happening and how it appears that things can be influenced over the time stream if you know the right door to go knocking on... they had already shown in a past episode that there was a distinct link between Desmond and Daniel (The Constant), and now it looks like Daniel can communicate with the Desmond on the Island (in the past), who will remember the meeting as a dream or memory and maybe able to change the sequence of events. The time travel/paradox issue looks like it will be a major part of the storyline and I am interested to see how all it will play out and how it ties into the apparent death of Locke and the need to get everyone back to the Island. I bet that once they are all back, Locke will come back to life (he is very special after all) and things will be changed in the Time/Space Continuum. This show is amazing and I have the distinct feeling that long term viewers will be treated to lots of great stuff this season. It was great to find out more about what happened with the gang on the Island after the big white out and it was a definite treat to have an episode of Sawyer shirtless. I wonder if Jack's hairy chest will come back during one of the flashbacks and I bet we will have at least one time travel episode where our survivors meet up with themselves. That will be a trip.

Weekend Rant - Emotional Roller coaster

Talk about an emotional roller coaster of a week on the tube. Things started off great with (finally) the elimination of our Divorced girls (with way too much baggage) from the Amazing Race and an interesting episode of Desperate Housewives that brought some stories around full circle and showed some new guest stars ( I love Lily Tomlin) and you know that it is all on the verge of hitting the fan.

Later in the week, the departure of Maurice from Dancing with the Stars was kind of predictable but I was screaming at home when my faves Lance & Lacey got through to the next round. I can't believe that Julianna was back to dance (wow) and loved seeing Lacey with Benji. I can't believe how much exposure some of the So you think you can Dance? participants are getting and it's so nice to see some fun dance numbers on the show. I am glad that Cody survived to get his partner back, and this week will show who if he is really a contender or the next to go. I preferred the dance solo part of the competition to the crappy team thing they did last week.

This week there was a great episode of Heroes (neatly renamed Villains for this round) that used the Lost flashback method to show why some of our characters are evil. While I applaud the occasionally use of the flashback method I hope that Heroes is not moving in that direction as I can't handle having too many shows that are either in the past or future instead of the now. Mama Petrelli is such a fascinating character (and not quite as Villainous as she seems to be portrayed) and I am really liking her character development. I loved seeing how some of the characters are related (and have similar powers) and the interaction with Linderman. The story is nice and complicated, is getting very interesting and I can hardly wait to see how Hiro saves himself with that big cliffhanger ending.

South Park made me laugh my ass off this week with their spoof of High School Musical that was ridiculously funny, and was probably the funniest episode so far in this season. The writing is still good but I haven't been gobsmacked by any episodes until now. The South Park gang needs to have at least one musical episode per season and I am still hoping for a great Holiday themed episode this year but it probably won't happen with the season finale around the corner.

Smallville continued one of it's better seasons and although I did like seeing the Brainiac storyline move forward , I hate the idea that Chloe is no longer in on Clark's super secret, and am really crossing my fingers and hopefully that will change and become just a bad idea. It was cute to see Clark and Chloe as kids and sharing their first kiss, even if Chloe knew from even that early time that they were intended to only be friends. We know the storyline is not over after seeing Brainiac take over the Fortress and got some new information about Doomsday (handy things those Kryptonian symbols) and the apparent link with our bad computer and Paramedic guy Davis. We will have to see how weepy it all gets next week with Chloe's wedding, Lana will be there and maybe we can see a cat fight between her and Lois for Clark.

There was another outstanding episode of Supernatural that has me on the edge of my seat with the conflict between the Angels and Demons. I love the storyline with our reluctant psychic who hears Angels, and appears to be a liability for the "good" side and needs to be silenced. Those archangels are pretty Rambo about things and don't think twice about the "greater good" and it makes for some pretty heavy stuff ... getting to see the flashbacks with Sam (and the development of his relationship with Ruby and her current body) explained some of his behaviour and filled in some gaps (and gave us a hot peak at his bod -- someone has been working out) and the big ending to this week's and sneak peek at next week certainly have my attention. There is some really good writing on the show this season.

Things were great on the last episode of Survivor: Gabon and I knew that Charlie was not going to be heartbroken if he got eliminated and sent off to the Ponderosa with bromance Marcus. If you check out the Ponderosa on the CBS Survivor site you can see our happy couple together and even planning their outfits together for their next appearance as the Jury.

As far as the game goes ... Sugar is really running things more than people realize (and it seems that there is some sort of collective amnesia that makes everyone forget that she has the Individual Immunity Idol) but I have to applaud Bob on his fake out Immunity Idol that he put together that may let him bluff his way out of a situation if used on the right people. It was great work and I can't get over how well he is playing.. he may be the guy to sneak through now that things have merged and there are less and less big physical threats. I am really enjoying seeing the show in HD and loved the reward visit to the village. The show is such a visual treat and this location in Gabon has been astounding.

Of course for all the good there had to be some sort of cosmic balance so I was then hit with the bad news that at least one but more thank likely a couple of my favorite shows are finishing up.

Pushing Daisies has not been picked up for more than it's initial order of 13 episodes, and my heart is breaking with the thought of yet another visual opus disappearing off the airwaves. I love Bryan Fuller's work and hope and pray to see more or at least the ending that he envisioned for his characters. Rumor has it that he may even consider doing a film or comic book to tie things up if necessary.

I can't believe that Fox is cancelling MAD tv after all these years, and think that their excuse of production costs to be complete bullshit. MAD tv has been one of my Saturday night staples for 14 years and has had some amazing comedic talent that have made their presence know on TV via the show. I really hope that one of the other networks will jump on it as viable competition for SNL and keep it on the air. This bad news was a downer on my week and I really hope it's only a bump on the road.

Starting the New Season- More Hits & Misses

With the ton of shows coming back to the airwaves (and a few new ones that need to be checked out), there are already a few things falling off to the wayside and one of the first casualties of the season (after 90210) has been Fringe. The series just hasn't captured my attention and with all the other choices available I just haven't been interested in keeping up. It's time to clear up a bit of room on the PVR and if I hear some critical acclaim for the series it may be checked out later but I am not holding my breath.

Bravo is a hit or miss network for me, and for every show that I love there seems to be a few that just don't make the grade. The Rachel Zoe Project didn't live up to it's advertising, but if the Real Housewives of Atlanta is close to being as over the top as what I have seen so far it will be sneaking it's way on to the Watch List. I am slightly ashamed but I will admit that I will check out the first episode of Paris Hilton's BFF, but more for the shock and awe factor than interest in Parisite.

The Amazing Race kicked off it's 13th edition this week , and right after winning the Emmy for Best Reality Show (again), it blazed out of the gates with the teams leaving the US to Brazil .

The teams seem interesting and there is already some of that delicious tension between some of the teams and there are already a couple of them heading into meltdown mode after one leg. Watch out for Terence & Sarah, Terence is getting the award for most needy and best passive aggressive routine this episode, but Ken & Tina are close behind with the whole thing about his infidelity. Is this the right reality show to be airing this kind of dirty laundry? I was laughing my ass off at the Frat Boys (Andrew & Dan) who seemed to think that they had all the ins to airline travel and got proved otherwise. I think the big lesson in this episode is that you need to read the clues and follow the directions and look for the flag that indicates your particular choice. I am still always in awe when I see players that don't know the rules.

Unfortunately our hippy bee keepers were eliminated this week (too bad), once again proving that it is usually the old and the weak that are the first to go.... it's one of those basic laws of survival. It was another great start and I am hoping next season we can get an edition in HD. The locales and views are too stunning and this show really needs to be showcased in a better format.

Desperate Housewives returned, and after the small teaser at the end of last season that showed a 5 year jump in the storyline I was worried that we were getting into unfamiliar, or even worse, Jump the shark territory.

All I can say is wow... I loved the new developments, the return of Edie and all the different components of what is going on.The flashbacks that they are using to explain the 5 year gap are great, and I was in panic mode for the first part of the episode thinking that Mike was dead (and that would have been too cruel) only to learn that he is still alive and well and sharing custody with Susan and their son. The developments with Bree are heartbreaking (and it will be interesting to see how that develops) and I am so loving her ultra Martha Stewart mode that she is in. There are a lot of things that have not been touched on (such as where are some of the kids?) and I am looking forward to seeing some of the new reveals.

I love the new Gaby. It`s nice to see someone stretch their acting chops more and to see Eva be more than just a hot body and a pretty face. The new tension with Edie (the bitching that will be going on should be too fun and Edie got in some really bitchy comments this week) and her dealing with having a husky girl is funny and tragic at the same time, and it may show the true depth of Gaby, or more than likely her continual struggle with image and looks. It`s to be expected, she is a former model after all.

The jump forward was a gamble but it has garnered my attention... hopefully enough others have as well.

Season Finales - Waiting for next season

Desperate Housewives managed to save a difficult season with a fantastic finale... not only did we get lots of dirt on Katherine (and finally got the real story behind her secret), but we saw more bonding between our ladies, and I really liked the wives banding together to save Katherine after she kills her psycho ex-husband. Wisteria Lane holds many secrets.... and having the right friends can make such a difference.

I loved the whole "flash forward" ending and the new possibilities that it brings to the storyline.... and wonder if it was a glimpse into the future or where things start off next season. I am completely hooked on Gaby being a mom (to twins?) and some of the possibilities that we saw.... and need to know what the hell happened to Mike. Good work there Mark Cherry-- you got me hooked again.

Bones ended the season with a quick wrap up of the Gormogon storyline that was too convenient for my taste.... I loved the whole fake death at the beginning (and Bone's reaction to finding out the truth)... and was right into all the red herrings that were being thrown around implicating Sweets and Hodgins as possible apprentices to the killer. When all was said and done (and blown up)... it seems that Zach was the apprentice (what???) and that part of the story is tied up.... only I see some huge dangling plot twist that has the skeleton disappearing the same time that Zach gets hurt -- so I don't see how he did it and still think that Sweets is involved. There is still something that doesn't sit right with this story and I want more closure. I am sure this will be followed up next year. Now hopefully next year we get more scenes of Booth & Bones chatting in the bathroom ... Booth was looking pretty damn fine in that tub.... but is that anyway to treat a comic book?

Dancing with the Stars finished up pretty much how I thought it would, the only difference being that I wanted to see Marissa in the final 3 and not Cristian.

The Finale was typical of season's past, the judges award the same score to the 2 final couples (why bother? it makes no difference) and it all comes down to how the viewers voted. Kristi went in to the finale with a perfect score, and had the highest overall scores that they have ever seen on the show.... so for me it was pretty much a done deal that she would win. There was that small outside chance that the public could have voted in droves for one contestant, but I think the judges would have tried to balance things out if that was the case.

I do get a tad tired of these " Walk of Shame" moments that all the competition shows do as they celebrate those who fallen in competition... but it was a trip to see some of the dancers again (and you still ask why some of them were there from the beginning as they look so out of place, sorry Monica) and it was nice to see that lots of the previous dancers from season's past were around to see the action. It's a feel good show, and I was happy to see Mark win as well, he is such a cute guy.
Congrats to Kristi & Mark for a great season, and I am looking forward to the next one!

Desperate Housewives - some answers... and yes more questions

It was great getting back to Wisteria Lane last night, but I am still finding the whole TV season pretty disjointed and hard to keep up with. The Strike screwed up most of this season but atleast there was some interesting developments last night.

I never saw the OC, but after my first episode with the yummy Chris Carmack as Susan`s cousin Tim (huh? where the hell did he suddenly come from?) who guest starred in this episode and I was wondering what I had missed previously. The guy is pretty hot... and he certainly got busy very quickly during his visit...

Susan was slightly more bearable this week, and I loved how she was freaking out worrying that her cousin was after the 18 year old... when it turns out it was Katherine that took his virginity at 16 when he visited before `Band Camp`. This was around the time that Katherine got rid of the abusive ex husband... and them hooking up again seemed to be good timing, after all she is just breaking up with her current husband and I guess Katherine`s cougar instincts come out in times of crisis....

We got tons of info concerning Katherine and the great mystery that is her ex-husband. The way things look.... it appears that Katherine killed her ex with the candlestick in the Library (?) or maybe the Study... it all seemed very Clue to me... all I know is that her other ex is still in the picture and her poor daughter is in serious need of therapy. I`d still like to know more about that mysterious burial in the woods.... I am assuming that is close to home and a big surprise that Lynette`s gang of monsters haven`t discovered it. I think the cross in the ground formed out of rocks might have caught some one`s attention... but I digress...

Gaby and Carlos were probably the most fun last night, and besides Gaby being the vapid and completely self centered woman that she is, she has me in hysterics with her abusing Carlos after she learned he might be permanently blind. Oh the drama... the bitchfest with Edie made the whole episode for me, and I love how those 2 interact.

I wasn`t that thrilled with Lynette`s sudden need for Church (and don`t believe that almost everyone in that particular `hood goes to church every week either..) but her interaction with Bree and the Minister was great... and her acceptance by the Catholic Church (`They are the only ones that don`t care if I have this many children`) was hysterical. Bree is one scary woman when she wants something and their discussion on faith was quite interesting.

I am still wondering where the gay couple is.... can`t they try to do a half decent story with them? Still.... I am happy to have some new episodes and looking forward to some new dirt...

Desperate Housewives - Answers & Questions

OK... the whole strike thing is now officially pissing me off. We get the best season so far of Housewives (and a really, really good episode) and for what? Continued when? Next season? Crap...

So the answers: following up to the Twister episode before the holidays, Victor, Ida and Sylvia have all bit the big one and the neighbourhood is in shambles. The opening scene with the destruction and watching Lynette waiting to see if her family survived was very well done, as was the support of her friends and the small acts of kindness. I know it might have seemed cruel to kill off one of the kids. but for drama it would have been interesting.... and there is that girl that is half family that could have been done away with.... Finding out the Ida died was a shame, as she was one of those fun supporting characters that can make an impact in any scene, and learning that she saved the family made it even more poignant. The underlying theme of knowing those around you better and not taking people for granted was well played out, and the scene with Lynette and Mrs. McCulskey spreading Ida's ashes at the Ballpark was the perfect balance. Mrs. McCulskey quoting "Do not stand at my grave and weep" followed by " Dump her" to the madcap antics of running around all Keystone cop to avoid the police and finishing the job was a nice homage to the character. I don't remember if she was in the actual commercials, but it appears that Ida was a fan of the infamous "Where's the beef?" commercials from Wendy's and it strangely feels right for the character. Learning that she was a kick ass Baseball player in WWII was the icing on the cake and she got a nice send off. Thank god Lynette saved her ashes from her bad relatives and fulfilled her last wishes, even if it did take some sneaky switcheroo with the vacuum bag contents.

The best part of all last night was the whole thing with Bree and Susan. Bree has a contractor that she got via our token gay couple (mourning the loss of their fountain, there has to be a better storyline for these 2) who is fixing her roof.... so she is staying at Susan's while the work is supposed to be done. The poor contractor (Walter) got dumped recently and his old boyfriend just moved in with a new boyfriend and the poor dear is beside himself with emotions. It's all very drama queen and Bree decides that the only way to get her work done is to basically pimp out her gay son to make Walter happy. Of course not in a sexual way... after all Bree is the queen of the tease and knows how to flatter and flirt to get her way and expects Andrew to do the same for her. It's hilarious, and the whole dinner scene with trying to set up Andrew and Walter is a true comedy of epic proportions. Orson throws out some funny lines about boot shopping, and Bree is suddenly the tolerant PFLAG mom when push comes to shove. Susan and Julie have gotten accustomed to having supermom at their house who cooks, cleans and is the mother that Susan never was (which of course, she is not in the least offended by) and when they see the risk of Bree leaving, they decide to sabotage Bree's plan to make the contractor happy and keep Bree around as long as possible. I was practically crying when Susan was saying that she had gotten used to ironed pillowcases and she wasn't going to give up with out a fight. Of course if you get Susan involved, it will go to hell and Walter leaves (much to the chagrin of Bree and Andrew who was counting on getting a 60" TV out of this) and the whole scene of Susan going on and on about Andrew's previous young & hot boyfriends (which we need more of...) and the whole trophy boyfriend thing made me realize that I guess that Susan has watched cable as she seemed pretty up on her gay culture. After the requisite blowup, Susan explains to Bree that she needs all this mothering at the moment (being pregnant and having your hubby in rehab is a bit rough) we have a nice bonding moment with the wives. It was great humor and some of the best scenes with both ladies this year.

Gaby got shot down at Victor's funeral by his dad... and cut off and out of the will and has gone from richer to poorer it appears.... but seems to still want Carlos (when not drugging him) who is hiding the secret that he is now blind due to his accident in the Twister.... things look rough for these 2 if we ever find out what happens...yup this is part of the questions....

Catherine's secret appears to be out with Adam, who found the mysterious note and confronted her before leaving... something about Catherine being responsible for something with her ex and then she burns the note, of course to be found (partially) by Dylan who pieces together some remnants to discover.... what? what? what? arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! Damn it this another one of those questions that I'd really like to know more about.... so please play nice, make some deals and finish this strike and maybe we can get a final episode or 2 this year... it would be nice and if David Letterman's company can swing a deal can't others?

Desperate Housewives - Something's coming & it's a Twister!

In what may be the season finale (damn strike) it all hit the fan on Wisteria Lane last night.... kinda funny that they had a tornado the same time Sci Fi was "re-imagining" the Wizard of Oz with Tin Man ... that's a lot of tornado in one evening.

I loved the episode, and thought it was a great cliffhanger and way to end the fall season... only it better not be fall of 2008 before we get to see the aftermath as that would be way too long of a wait.... I guess time will tell.

Although we didn't see all of the characters (where is our gay couple?), it was great to see some story lines closed, and it left a hell of cliffhanger.... personally I am worried about Ida's cat and was pretty pissed at Lynette for putting it outside.... but happy to see that Mrs. McCluskey survived with Lynette even if her house didn't.... now we all want to know if Lynette's family is alive in all that rubble. Lynette -- note to self -- yes we know you are uber mom, but for some people their pet is like a child and respect that, and if your husband is so deathly asthmatic he should have something to treat it with....

The Gaby/Carlos/Edie/Victor storyline was great.... loved the cat fight (more! more!), our girls bonding during the disaster,the big fight scene and Victor getting impaled by the picket fence... all good story stuff and eager to see how it plays out. Guess Carlos and Gaby are out 10 Million?

Susan played tough and although it was a bit of an improvement over the past couple of weeks I am still not happy with her storyline and I guess Mike is off to rehab.... do they need to keep him continually in the hospital? There has to be something better they can do with these two.

The storyline with Katherine, Adam and Sylvia the stalker played out well (although Sylvia being sucked up by the tornado was cheesy and kind of predictable) and I loved the bonding between Bree and Katherine. Having these 2 Martha Stewarts on steroids working together could be an extremely dangerous thing and god help the neighbourhood. Me thinks Adam is still in deep doo-doo as it appears Sylvia was closer to Adam than previously thought and that should make for some interesting blow ups with Katherine. Hell hath no fury.....

Desperate Housewives - Deception

I loved last night's episode, and how they wove their central theme of "Deception"throughout the entire show. The story lines keep up a great pace, and I really found that the whole hour passed so quickly I couldn't believe it was already over.

LOVED the whole Gaby, Victor and Carlos adventure at Sea, had a huge LOL moment the second time Gaby decked Victor with the Oars and had that big hmmmmmmm moment at the end wondering if Victor is still out there... more deception?

It was great seeing Lynette's sisters and the dramedy storyline of her mother. Ditching mom with her sister at the restaurant was hilarious and I love seeing how ingenious Lynette is. The confrontation with her sisters about responsibility and the apparent rupture between them seemed like real life stuff. Mom's escape at the end made me wonder if she was getting out for her own good, the good of her kids or because she knew she wasn't wanted. Lynette seems to get the heaviest story lines and am looking forward to seeing her have some fun.

The Bree circumcision storyline was true Bree, making sure she was getting what she wanted, making sure it looks good and will go to any means to accomplish this, so you know that some deception has to be involved. Crashing a Bris and playing Jewish? tsk tsk but so naughty and funny. The stand out line of last night was her declaration that her child "will be as devout a Jew as she is"... too funny. Bree did manage to redeem herself slightly by touting love instead of blood at the end so you know there is some help somewhere.

Mike is popping pills, Bree catches on to this and tells Susan, much mayhem ensues and after finding Mike's stash and confronting him, Mike dumps it down the drain in front of Susan. Of course we know this is deception (the man is a fricking plumber!), so no surprises there. Just questions about what the hell are they doing with Susan and Mike this year??

Katherine and Dylan had the biggest deception going on.... we still don't know what happened all those years ago, why Dylan doesn't remember, what happenned to dear old Dad... just hints about abuse and some real bad stuff. Dylan has questions and Katherine will do anything to make Dylan stop and deceives her daughter into thinking Dad tried to kill her years ago.... makes you wonder even more what did happen? Will we ever know with the Writer's Strike?

Desperate Housewives

Halloween came to Wisteria Lane last night, and Danielle's brilliant costume of dressing as Bree was absolutely hysterical... all the way to acting like her mother until her water breaks and it's time for an emergency delivery with Dr. Frankenstein. Kudos to Danielle as she put in a great performance last night, and giving up her baby was a very hard thing to do as much as she said she didn't want it.

Unfortunately they made Andrew dress as Cher (stupid), but the rest of the cast that was in costume was pretty good, Katherine wasn't in this episode much but still managed to make her presence known at the party including some very bitchy comments to our resident gay couple.

Lynette's cancer storyline has hopefully wrapped up, and the parallel story of waiting for her results and the possum problem was a bit overdone but effective none the less.

Gaby and Carlos are still as on again off again as usual, Edie is complicating things with letting Victor know about the affair and Susan still can't get a decent storyline this year. I am not sure if Teri Hatcher pissed off the writers but they are not being too kind with her at the moment, and her and hunky husband are getting pretty dull.... now with the writer's strike this season may be short and unfulfilled as who knows where things will wrap up...

Desperate Housewives

Things are a hell of a lot more interesting this year on Wisteria Lane... I don't know if they have changed writers but the show has improved tons over last year. The new character Katherine (and the new gay neighbours) have added so much intrigue and bitchiness that the episodes just fly by and there is tons to keep up with.

The fountain storyline was hilarious... and Bree had one of the stand out lines of last night: "Of all the gay men in the world, we have to get the two without taste!" Time for the Home owner's association to take things in hand and best of all it's time for an election, and before you know it we have Freedom vs Fascism with Katherine and Lynette fighting for the Presidency.

Besides the Fountain issue, Gaby and Carlos had a great scene with the yummy John making a guest appearance, and Edie getting the goods on Carlos and Gaby... things are definately heating up and it will be interesting to see what happens next. Susan is still being wasted and they need to get a better storyline for her... funny that there was no mention of her pregnancy this week.

My favorite part of the episode had to be the storyline with Bree, Danielle and the Grandmother at the retirement villa and the bartering of the baby for a convertible... it was just too funny and the preview for next week had me desperate to see what happens next... good job writers, you have done your job very well !

Desperate Housewives

Last night saw the introduction of the "gay couple" that has arrived in Wisteria Lane, and the best bitchy comment so far has been " I hope we live up to your stereotype", which hopefully will not be happening. Susan is an interesting character but does she have to screw up everything?

Another good episode, the show has gotten back some of it's "oumph" that was missing last year, and had lots of fun moments that were balanced with some of the dramedy that happens on the show. The mystery surrounding Katherine and Aunt Lily, Bree and the ex-mother in law, the return of Danielle , dog-napping, role playing and crab cakes all made for an interesting hour.... I can hardly wait until Danielle has her baby and it turns out to be that Mathew is the father.... explain that one Bree ....

Desperate Housewives Season Premiere

I am so glad this show is back, with all of it's dirty little secrets and such a bunch of wacky characters. Quickly picking up where things left off, Edie doesn't kill herself (yeah what a surprise....) and then we do a little jump one month later.

Things heat up quickly with the arrival of new (old) neighbours, Katherine, Adam and Dylan. It appears someone used to live in the neighbourhood, left under mysterious circumstances (gotta love Mrs. McCloskey for spilling the beans) and is now back with new hot doctor husband (LOVE Nathan Fillion) and amnesia stricken daughter--- all fun and interesting and nice to see a woman that will actually try to do battle with Bree? Me hopes for a "good old Dynasty style smack down cat fight roll in the mud" kinda thing eventually.... one can dream.

Anyways catching up with our friends on Wisteria Lane:

Gaby is still in her not wanted marriage, pining for Carlos;

Carlos is blackmailed into staying with Edie who is milking the pity card way too hard;

Bree is still faking pregnancy and being militant about no one touching her belly (Orson still creeps the hell out of me and his cover idea of the fake magical BBQ fork was just too much... yikes!)

Lynette is still battling cancer, wearing a wig and barfing in other people's purses. Yeeesh! Tom was basically non existant in this episode so nothing new there..... her mom, played by Polly Bergen is hilarious and loved her comments about playing "the cancer card".

Susan is as .... well ..... Susan as ever. Seriously is she never happy or just wanting to sabotage her life so things end badly? Maybe we can write this off to hormones as it appears she might be pregnant (with whose baby ???) She did have a nice awkward moment with new hot Doctor who just happens to be a gynecologist .... nice to put a face to the name ! LOL

I was happy to see that Julie was getting more air time, hopefully Andrew will get more when the rumoured gay couple arrives soon.... this should be interesting.
